Here is a demo done in what we call our Long Head Drawing class. Done in graphite, these drawings are good for taking the time look for the subtlety in form. We use a smooth velum bristol paper and various grades of graphite. I like to also use a mechanical pencil.
Here is a second preview for a piece that will be available at the IlluXCon this November. This was done for Sony Online Entertainment's - Legends of Norrath card game.
Here are a couple of portraits done in oil. The toddler portrait was done as a commission for a friend of mine. The other was done as 3hr study in a class.
The NEW Summer 2009 class schedule for the Watts Atelier is available. We are nearing the end of our Spring term, and recommend early registration for the next term. Classes fill up quick. Classes start July 13. Here is a list of classes I will be teaching:
This card was one I did way back on the second set of the WoW TCG. I thought it got lost. This was done about 2yrs ago. It's cool to FINALLY see it released.
Here is one of a new set of oil paintings I've been working on for the IlluXCon in November. I'll be exhibiting several new paintings at the show. Once a month until November, I'll post one new illustration. These will be available for purchase at the show.
This was done from a model about 6-8hrs. I wish I could have put more time into it. I'm still not happy with the head or hands. They are laid in alright, but still need some work.
Here is a graphite drawing that I started as a demo in our Long Head Drawing class. The poses are usually about 9-12hrs. I encourage the students to work from a photo at home because this particular method is a slow one.
