Drogo, Viserion, Rhaegal

Just got back from IlluXCon and it was another amazing trip. That show is so awesome! I met a lot of new people, some of which whos work I've been following for a while now. I got to catch up with a some old friends as well. There are a lot of changes happening with that show in the next 2yrs that I'm really looking forward to. New location, bigger exposure, and much more. Make sure to head on over to the IlluXCon offical site to get all of the latest.

Above is a tryptic painting from one of my favorite book series. I've been wanting to do a painting from "A Song of Ice and Fire" for a while now. I finally found some time to work on this personal piece. They are 3 seperate 8x10 paintings in a 36" custome frame. The painting is available for purchase. Contact me for more info.

  1. Good choice on framing! I'm a big fan of double matting.

  3. Looks awesome, Lucas! Wish I could have seen it in person, but alas, I couldn't get out to Altoona again this year. But I'm glad to hear it was a good show. :)

  5. Hi Lucas. I like so much this "unusual" (at least for fantasy illustration) composition. It's like an half way between comic and illustration and maybe remind me modern art installation. I love the three dimentional rendering you give to the dragons too. On what do you usually paint? I mean canvas, wood, paper etc.

  6. Thanks Francesco- I work on gessoed masonite, which is pretty much a primed hardboard.
